The SGS 66427 is a screw machine length drill bit engineered for high-performance drilling across a wide range of materials. Built from micrograin solid carbide and coated with Ti-NAMITE-X, this bit delivers extended tool life and resistance to heat and abrasion in demanding production environments. It features an 11/64 inch (0.2244 decimal inch) diameter, a 135-degree split point, and a web-thinned tip that reduces entry thrust and improves chip evacuation. The straight-cylindrical shank and two-flute spiral design support consistent chip flow and stable tool holding in standard drill chucks and collet systems. Machinists, tool-and-die tradespeople, and maintenance mechanics are the primary users of this type of bit.
The SGS 66427 is suited for general-purpose and precision drilling in ferrous metals, non-ferrous alloys, plastics, and composite materials. The universal primary workpiece material rating and high-performance grade designation make it appropriate for CNC machining centers, drill presses, and hand-held production drilling applications where tight tolerances and repeatable hole quality are required. The 3xD flute-to-diameter ratio supports controlled chip removal at moderate cutting depths.
Designed as a screw machine length drill bit for use in CNC machining centers, drill presses, and production drilling setups that accept a 0.2300 decimal inch straight-cylindrical shank. Suitable for universal workpiece materials per the Series 142P specification.
Installation and use of carbide drill bits should be performed by qualified machinists or tooling technicians. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before changing tooling. Verify chuck or collet runout is within acceptable tolerance before use, as excessive runout accelerates carbide tool wear and can cause breakage. Do not use this bit in hammerdrill or impact mode.
