The SGS 66414 is a screw machine length drill bit machined from solid micrograin carbide and coated with Ti-NAMITE-X for high-performance cutting across a wide range of workpiece materials. The bit measures 13/64 inch (0.1732 inch decimal, 4.40 mm) in diameter with an overall length of 2.5984 inches (66 mm). The 135-degree split point with web thinning reduces walking on entry and lowers thrust requirements at the spindle. Coolant-through capability supports high-feed operations where chip evacuation and heat control are critical. This bit is intended for use by machinists, tool-and-die technicians, and maintenance professionals running CNC or manual drilling equipment.
The SGS 66414 is suited for production drilling in metalworking, fabrication, and maintenance applications where a compact stub-length profile is needed for rigidity in short-reach setups. The screw machine length format provides a stiffer cutting zone compared to jobber-length bits, making it a practical choice for tight setups, fixtures, and multi-spindle heads. Designed as an OEM-style replacement and production drill bit for use in CNC machining centers, drill presses, and multi-spindle equipment accepting a straight-cylindrical shank with a 0.2300-inch shank diameter. Conforms to DIN 6537 specification.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified machinists or maintenance technicians familiar with cutting tool setup and machine tool operation. Secure the shank fully in the chuck or collet before operation and verify runout is within acceptable limits for the application. Always power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing tooling.
