The SGS 66407 is a screw machine length drill bit designed for high-performance metal cutting in production and maintenance environments. Built from micrograin solid carbide and coated with Ti-NAMITE-X, it delivers extended tool life and thermal resistance under demanding drilling conditions. The bit measures 13/64 inches (0.1457 inches decimal) in diameter with a 135-degree split point and a right-hand spiral flute configuration. Overall length is 2.44 inches (62 mm) with a flute length of 0.79 inches (20 mm). Coolant-through capability supports higher feed rates and helps evacuate chips in deep-hole applications. The web-thinned point reduces entry thrust and improves centering on hard or tough workpiece materials.
This drill bit fits production drilling, toolroom work, and maintenance repair operations where stub-length rigidity is preferred over jobber-length reach. The straight-cylindrical shank seats directly in standard drill chucks or collet holders without adapters. With a universal primary workpiece material rating, it is suited for ferrous metals, stainless steel, cast iron, and similar materials. The 4-margin design improves hole roundness and finish quality. It is sold individually and is appropriate for use in CNC machining centers, drill presses, and handheld production drilling equipment.
Designed for use in standard straight-shank drill chucks and collet holders rated for a 0.23-inch shank diameter. Rated for universal workpiece materials including ferrous metals, stainless steel, and cast iron. Conforms to DIN 6537 specification.
Installation of this drill bit should be performed by a qualified machinist or tool-and-die technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before changing tooling. Seat the straight-cylindrical shank fully in the chuck or collet and verify runout before drilling. Follow the machine manufacturer and DIN 6537 guidelines for feed rate and speed selection based on workpiece material.
