The SGS 63183 is a solid carbide screw machine length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in demanding materials including alloy steels and titanium. It carries an AlTiN (Ti-NAMITE-A) finish that reduces heat buildup and extends tool life in dry or minimal-lubrication cutting environments. The bit measures 8.50 mm (0.3346 inches) in diameter with an overall length of 89.00 mm (3.5039 inches) and features a 145-degree notched point angle optimized for fast, accurate entry with reduced thrust. Web-thinned construction and a tapered web configuration improve chip evacuation and cutting efficiency. Machinists, tool-and-die technicians, and CNC operators working in production environments are the primary users of this bit.
The SGS 63183 is suited for screw machine operations, CNC drilling centers, and manual drill press applications where a stub-length bit provides rigidity and reduced runout. It performs in alloy steel and titanium workpieces where a high-hardness tool material and heat-resistant coating are required. The 3xD flute-to-diameter ratio and 47.00 mm (1.850 inch) flute length support drilling depths up to 35.00 mm (1.378 inches) per pass in a controlled setup.
Designed as a screw machine length carbide drill for use in CNC machining centers, turret lathes, and drill presses configured for straight-shank tooling in the Series 135M product family.
This bit is installed by qualified machinists or CNC setup technicians. Ensure the machine spindle and collet or chuck are clean and properly torqued before seating the straight shank. Power down and de-energize the machine before tool changes. Do not exceed the recommended maximum drilling depth of 35.00 mm per pass without retracting to clear chips.
