The SGS 58080 is a solid carbide jobber-length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in demanding materials. It carries a 150-degree point angle with a web-thinned, standard point geometry that reduces entry force and improves centering on hard or abrasive workpieces. The Ti-NAMITE-A (AlTiN) coating provides elevated heat resistance and extended tool life in dry or semi-dry cutting conditions. At 4 inches overall length with a 2.5-inch flute length, this bit falls into the standard jobber range suitable for most drill press, CNC machining center, and hand-held power drill applications. It is installed and used by machinists, tool-and-die professionals, and skilled tradespeople working in metal fabrication and maintenance environments.
This drill bit is suited for drilling cast iron, hardened steel, non-ferrous metals, and general-purpose steel. The 3-flute design improves chip evacuation and surface finish compared to standard 2-flute geometry, making it a practical choice for production drilling and repetitive hole-making operations. The straight cylindrical shank fits standard drill chucks without modification. With a 5xD flute-by-diameter ratio and a maximum drilling depth of 2 inches, it is appropriate for through-holes and blind holes in workpiece thicknesses common to fabrication and repair work.
Designed as a general-purpose jobber-length drill bit compatible with any standard drill chuck or collet accepting an 11/32-inch straight cylindrical shank. Suitable for use in drill presses, CNC machining centers, and hand-held power drills. Primary workpiece materials include cast iron, hardened steel, non-ferrous metal, and steel.
Secure the shank fully in a properly rated drill chuck or collet before operation and verify runout before drilling production parts. Power down and de-energize any CNC machine or drill press before changing tooling. Coolant-through is not supported on this bit; use external coolant or cutting fluid appropriate to the workpiece material when drilling hardened or heat-sensitive metals. Follow applicable OSHA machine guarding and PPE requirements when operating rotary cutting tools.
