The SGS 58058 is a solid carbide jobber length drill bit in Letter C size, equivalent to 0.2420 inches (6.15 mm) diameter. It features a 150-degree point angle with web thinning for reduced thrust and a 3-flute spiral design that improves chip evacuation over standard 2-flute geometry. The proprietary Ti-NAMITE-A coating enhances wear resistance and surface hardness for extended tool life in demanding materials. With an overall length of 3.25 inches and a 2-inch flute length, it is sized for general-purpose jobber applications in production machining, maintenance, and fabrication environments. Machinists, tool-and-die technicians, and industrial maintenance professionals are the primary users.
This drill bit is suited for precision drilling in ferrous and non-ferrous metals, alloys, and similar materials where tight diameter tolerances are required. The straight cylindrical shank fits standard drill chucks and collets without modification. The 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio and tapered web configuration make it appropriate for through-hole and blind-hole operations in CNC machining centers, drill presses, and handheld power tools where rigidity is maintained. Maximum drilling depth is 1.609 inches under recommended conditions.
Designed as a general-purpose jobber length drill bit for use in standard drill chucks and collets accepting a 0.2420-inch straight shank. Suitable for CNC machining centers, drill presses, and power hand tools across general machining applications in the 0.2000 to 0.2500-inch drill diameter range.
Install in a properly sized collet or drill chuck and verify runout before production drilling. Secure workpieces firmly to prevent movement during cutting. Follow machine manufacturer guidelines for feed rate and spindle speed when drilling with solid carbide tooling, as carbide is more brittle than high-speed steel and sensitive to lateral loading. Inspect the cutting edges before each use and replace the bit if chipping or coating wear is observed.
