The SGS 57137 is a solid carbide jobber length drill bit designed for precision drilling in hard and abrasive materials. It measures 9/64 inch (0.1406 inch) in diameter with a 2.5 inch overall length and features an AlTiN (Ti-NAMITE-A) coating that improves heat resistance and extends tool life in high-speed applications. The four facet point geometry at 118 degrees reduces thrust and improves centering accuracy. A web-thinned, tapered web configuration reduces cutting resistance. This bit is built to DIN 338 standards and is installed by machinists, tool and die workers, and maintenance technicians working with ferrous and non-ferrous materials.
The SGS 57137 is suited for general purpose drilling operations in production and maintenance environments. The 9/64 inch diameter and 1.375 inch flute length make it appropriate for through-hole and blind-hole applications in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and other hard materials where carbide's rigidity and the AlTiN coating's thermal performance provide an advantage over high-speed steel alternatives. The straight cylindrical shank fits standard drill chucks and collet holders used on CNC machining centers, drill presses, and hand-held power tools.
Designed as a general purpose jobber length drill bit compatible with standard drill chucks and collet systems accepting a 9/64 inch straight cylindrical shank. Suitable for use on CNC machining centers, drill presses, and power hand tools.
Secure the straight cylindrical shank fully in a properly sized drill chuck or collet before operation. Ensure the workpiece is clamped securely to prevent movement during drilling. Use appropriate cutting fluid or coolant for the material being drilled where applicable, noting this bit does not have through-coolant capability. Inspect the cutting edge and coating condition before each use; carbide is brittle and can chip if subjected to side loading or impact.
