The SGS 57135 is a solid carbide jobber-length drill bit in No. 29 wire size (0.136 inches / 3.45 mm diameter), designed for precision drilling in a wide range of materials. It features a 118-degree four-facet point with web thinning for reduced thrust and improved centering at entry. The Ti-NAMITE-A coating provides added lubricity and wear resistance for extended tool life in production and job-site drilling applications. With an overall length of 2.5 inches and a 1.375-inch spiral flute, this bit is sized for standard jobber-length reach in metalworking, machining, and fabrication environments. It is installed and operated by machinists, tool and die professionals, and skilled fabricators.
The SGS 57135 suits general-purpose drilling in steels, aluminum, cast iron, and other materials where a solid carbide tool outperforms high-speed steel. The straight-cylindrical shank accepts standard drill chucks on CNC machining centers, drill presses, and hand-held power tools. Its regular spiral and 2-flute configuration support efficient chip evacuation in through-hole and blind-hole applications. The Series 101 designation places it within SGS's general-purpose carbide jobber line, built to DIN 338 standards. Typical use cases include light-to-medium production drilling, tool room work, and precision hole sizing.
Designed as a general-purpose replacement or production jobber drill bit compatible with any standard drill chuck accepting a 0.136-inch straight-cylindrical shank on CNC machining centers, drill presses, and power drills.
Installation is performed by machinists or fabricators using a standard drill chuck or collet system. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the chuck is secure before changing bits. Solid carbide tooling is brittle compared to high-speed steel — avoid side loads and interrupted cuts that can cause chipping or breakage. Verify spindle speed and feed rate are appropriate for the workpiece material and hole diameter before starting the cut.
