The SGS 57120 is a solid carbide jobber-length drill bit designed for precision drilling in demanding machining applications. It features a 3/32 inch (0.0938 inch) diameter, a 118-degree four-facet point angle, and an AlTiN (Ti-NAMITE-A) coating that improves heat resistance and extends tool life at elevated cutting speeds. The two-flute, regular spiral design promotes efficient chip evacuation. The overall length is 2 inches, with a 1-inch flute length and a straight cylindrical shank. Web thinning reduces entry force and helps maintain positional accuracy. This bit is suited for use on CNC machining centers, drill presses, and manual lathes in production and job-shop environments.
The SGS 57120 is intended for general-purpose drilling where tight tolerances and a durable carbide substrate are required. Its 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio and micrograin carbide grade make it well-suited for harder workpiece materials including alloy steels, stainless steels, cast iron, and non-ferrous metals. It is appropriate for both production-volume drilling and precision prototype work where diameter consistency is critical. The AlTiN coating provides additional thermal protection during dry or minimum-quantity lubrication cutting strategies.
Designed as a general-purpose jobber-length drill bit compatible with standard straight-shank drill chucks and collet systems accepting a 3/32 inch shank diameter. Suitable for use in CNC machining centers, drill presses, and manual machine tools.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified machinists or tooling technicians familiar with cutting tool setup and safe machine operation. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is locked out before changing or seating the bit in the chuck or collet. Verify chuck or collet runout is within acceptable limits before production use, as excessive runout will accelerate carbide tool wear. Follow applicable shop safety protocols and machine manufacturer guidelines for speeds and feeds appropriate to the workpiece material.
