The SGS 56456 is a solid carbide jobber-length drill bit sized to Letter U (9.35 mm / 0.368 inches) with a 135-degree split point and Ti-NAMITE-X coating. It is engineered for high-performance drilling in demanding materials where a standard HSS bit would wear prematurely. The Ti-NAMITE-X coating reduces friction and extends tool life in ferrous and non-ferrous applications alike. With a right-hand spiral flute and web-thinned point, the 56456 starts on center with minimal thrust and evacuates chips efficiently. Licensed machinists, tool-and-die professionals, and advanced fabricators are the primary users of this series.
The SGS 56456 fits vertical mills, CNC machining centers, and drill presses capable of running carbide tooling at appropriate surface footage. It is suited for production drilling in alloy steels, stainless steels, cast iron, and similar hard materials. The straight-cylindrical shank seats directly in standard drill chucks or collet holders. The Series 142P designation covers a 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio, making this bit appropriate for moderately deep hole applications within its rated maximum drilling depth of 23.00 mm (0.9055 inches). Coolant-through capability supports high-speed production runs where chip evacuation and heat management are critical.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or upgrade drill bit for use in standard drill chucks and collet systems accepting a 10.00 mm (0.5500 inch) straight-cylindrical shank; compatible with CNC machining centers, drill presses, and milling machines capable of running solid carbide tooling.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified machinists or tooling professionals familiar with carbide tooling requirements. Secure the straight-cylindrical shank firmly in a compatible chuck or precision collet before operation, and verify runout is within acceptable limits to prevent premature edge chipping. Always set spindle speed and feed rate appropriate for solid carbide tooling in the workpiece material. Enable coolant-through flow before starting the cut when using through-coolant capability.
