The SGS 56436 is a solid carbide jobber length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in hard and abrasive materials. It carries a 1/8 inch (0.1250 inch) diameter with a 135-degree split point and a proprietary Ti-NAMITE-X (TX) coating that extends tool life in demanding applications. The bit measures 2.5984 inches overall length with a 1.1024 inch flute length and features a straight cylindrical shank with a 0.3100 inch shank diameter. Built to DIN 6537 specification from micrograin carbide stock, this bit is suited for machinists, tool and die shops, and maintenance technicians who need consistent, close-tolerance holes in ferrous alloys, stainless, and hardened steels.
The SGS 56436 Series 142P fits standard CNC machining centers, drill presses, and high-speed spindles that accept straight-shank tooling. Its 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio and web-thinned point are well matched to production drilling in steel, cast iron, titanium, and similar tough materials. Coolant-through capability supports through-spindle coolant systems, helping clear chips and manage heat in deep-hole operations up to 1.1417 inches maximum drilling depth. This bit is sold individually and is appropriate for professional machining environments where diameter tolerance control is critical.
Designed as a straight-shank jobber length drill bit compatible with standard drill chucks, collet systems, and CNC tool holders that accept a 0.3100 inch straight cylindrical shank.
Installation and use of this bit should be performed by qualified machinists or maintenance technicians familiar with cutting tool setup. Secure the straight shank fully in the chuck or collet to the recommended grip depth before running the spindle. When using through-spindle coolant, verify that the machine coolant pressure and flow rate are appropriate for the tool diameter before beginning the drilling cycle. Inspect the cutting edges and coating condition before each use and replace the bit if chipping or coating breakdown is observed.
