The SGS 56429 is a solid carbide screw machine length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling across a wide range of workpiece materials. It features a 135-degree split point with web thinning for fast penetration and reduced walking at entry. The 33/64 inch (0.5156 inch) diameter cutting edge is ground to a tight tolerance of +0.00028 to +0.00098 inch, ensuring precise hole sizing. The Ti-NAMITE-X coating improves surface hardness and heat resistance for extended tool life in demanding applications. With an overall length of 4.2126 inches and a flute length of 2.3622 inches, this bit is suited for short-reach, high-rigidity drilling setups. Licensed machinists, toolroom technicians, and CNC operators are the primary users.
The SGS 56429 is built for production and maintenance machining environments where dimensional accuracy and tool life are critical. Its universal primary workpiece material rating makes it appropriate for steel, aluminum, cast iron, stainless, and similar materials. The screw machine length profile keeps the bit compact and rigid, reducing deflection in high-feed applications. Coolant-through capability supports both flood and through-spindle coolant delivery, making it compatible with CNC machining centers and drill presses equipped for internal coolant supply. The straight-cylindrical shank fits standard drill chucks and collet holders sized for 0.5500 inch shank diameter.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or production-grade cutting tool for use in CNC machining centers, drill presses, and similar equipment accepting a 0.5500 inch straight-cylindrical shank. Suitable for universal workpiece materials per the Series 142P specification.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician familiar with carbide tooling handling procedures. Carbide is brittle — avoid dropping or contacting hard surfaces during setup. Secure the straight-cylindrical shank firmly in a compatible drill chuck or collet holder before operation; verify runout before commencing a production run. When using the coolant-through feature, confirm that coolant pressure and flow rate are within the machine spindle specifications before engaging the spindle.
