The SGS 56427 is a solid carbide screw machine length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in a wide range of workpiece materials. Built to DIN 6537 specification, it features a 31/64 inch (0.4844 inch) diameter, a 135-degree split point, and a Ti-NAMITE-X coating for extended tool life and heat resistance. The micrograin carbide construction provides rigidity and edge retention in demanding production environments. With a straight-cylindrical shank, right-hand cutting direction, and coolant-through capability, this bit is suited for CNC machining centers and drill press applications where precision and repeatability matter.
This drill bit is intended for use in machine shop and production drilling applications where screw machine length tooling is required for reduced deflection and improved hole accuracy. The 3xD flute-to-diameter ratio and web-thinned point reduce thrust and improve chip evacuation. It is appropriate for ferrous and non-ferrous materials, making it a versatile choice for machinists working across multiple material grades. Typical users include CNC operators, tool and die technicians, and production machinists in manufacturing environments.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-use screw machine length drill bit for production drilling setups requiring a 31/64 inch diameter solid carbide tool with a straight-cylindrical shank. Series 142P designation applies.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified machinists or CNC operators familiar with carbide tooling practices. Ensure the machine spindle and chuck are clean and within tolerance before seating the straight-cylindrical shank. Carbide tooling is brittle — do not subject the bit to side loading or impact. When using the coolant-through feature, verify coolant pressure and flow rate are appropriate for the machine and material before initiating a cut.
