The SGS 56423 is a solid carbide screw machine length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in a wide range of workpiece materials. It carries a 13/32 inch (0.4062 inch) diameter with a 137-degree drill point angle and features a proprietary coated finish for extended tool life. The overall length is 4.0157 inches, and the flute length runs 2.1654 inches, giving a 3xD flute-to-diameter ratio suited for controlled chip evacuation in stub-length applications. The straight cylindrical shank and regular spiral flute geometry make this bit compatible with standard drill chucks and CNC toolholders. Web thinning and four margins contribute to accurate entry and reduced thrust in production drilling environments. Licensed machinists, tool-and-die technicians, and CNC operators are the primary users.
The SGS 56423 Series 142P is built for production and job-shop drilling where a compact, rigid drill is preferred over a jobber-length bit. Its screw machine length reduces deflection and improves hole location accuracy, particularly in setups with minimal stick-out. The universal primary workpiece material rating means it is suitable for ferrous metals, non-ferrous alloys, and plastics across both manual and CNC drilling operations. Coolant-through capability supports high-speed, deep-cycle drilling in machining centers with internal coolant delivery. The DIN 6537 specification ensures dimensional conformance to recognized international tooling standards.
The SGS 56423 Series 142P is rated for universal primary workpiece materials and is dimensionally conformant to DIN 6537. It is designed for use in standard straight-shank drill chucks and CNC toolholders accepting a 11.999 mm (approximately 0.4724 inch) shank diameter.
Installation and tool changes should be performed by qualified machinists or CNC operators with the machine in a full stop and lockout-tagout procedures in place. Confirm chuck or collet bore is clean and undamaged before seating the shank. Do not exceed the recommended maximum drilling depth of 2.1654 inches for this bit. When using coolant-through capability, verify that coolant pressure and flow rate match the spindle and toolholder specifications before starting the cycle.
