The SGS 56422 is a solid carbide screw machine length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in a wide range of materials. Built to DIN 6537 specifications, it features a 135-degree split point, Ti-NAMITE-X coating, and a web-thinned tip for fast penetration and reduced thrust. The 25/64 inch (9.92 mm) diameter bit runs a standard 2-flute spiral flute geometry with a straight-cylindrical shank. At 3.504 inches overall length, it fits standard drill chucks and CNC machining centers. Coolant-through capability makes it well-suited for high-speed production environments where chip evacuation and heat management are critical.
This screw machine length drill bit is intended for professional machinists, toolroom technicians, and CNC operators working in production shops, job shops, and maintenance environments. The short flute-to-diameter ratio of 3xD keeps the bit rigid in interrupted cuts and cross-hole drilling. The Ti-NAMITE-X coating improves wear resistance and extends tool life across universal workpiece materials including steel, cast iron, aluminum, and non-ferrous alloys. Its 4-margin design provides improved hole accuracy and bore finish compared to standard 2-margin configurations.
Designed as a screw machine length replacement or production drill for use in CNC machining centers, drill presses, and manual machines accepting a straight-cylindrical shank with a 0.47 inch (10.00 mm) shank diameter. Compatible with workpiece materials across the universal range per Series 142P specifications.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or toolroom technicians. Secure the straight-cylindrical shank fully in the collet or chuck before operation, and verify runout before initiating a cut. When using coolant-through capability, confirm that the machine spindle coolant supply is active and at the correct pressure before drilling. Inspect the cutting edge and coating condition before each use and replace the bit if chipping or coating breakdown is observed.
