The SGS 56419 is a screw machine length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in a wide range of workpiece materials. Built from micrograin solid carbide and coated with Ti-NAMITE-X, it delivers extended tool life and resistance to heat buildup at the cutting edge. The 135-degree split point reduces thrust and self-centers on entry, eliminating the need for a center punch on most surfaces. With an overall length of 3.504 inches and a 23/64-inch (0.3594 inch) diameter, this stub-length bit provides the rigidity needed for accurate, chatter-free holes in both manual and CNC drilling operations. It is suited for machinists, tool and die shops, and maintenance professionals working in metal fabrication or production environments.
The SGS 56419 fits applications where a standard jobber-length bit lacks the rigidity required for tight-tolerance holes. Its screw machine length body keeps deflection low when drilling steel, stainless, aluminum, cast iron, and other common workpiece materials. The straight-cylindrical shank at 0.470 inches in diameter seats securely in drill chucks and collet-style toolholders. The coolant-through design supports flood or high-pressure through-spindle coolant delivery, making it a practical choice for production runs on CNC machining centers and drill presses equipped with coolant systems.
Designed as an OEM-style screw machine length replacement drill bit for use in CNC machining centers, drill presses, and manual drilling setups that accept a 0.470-inch straight-cylindrical shank. Conforms to DIN 6537 specification.
Installation and tool changes should be performed with the machine fully powered down and spindle locked. Seat the shank fully in the chuck or collet and verify runout before beginning a drilling cycle. Through-spindle coolant pressure and feed rates should be set per the machine tool manufacturer guidelines for carbide tooling. Avoid hand-grinding the cutting edge, as micrograin carbide requires dedicated grinding equipment to maintain geometry.
