The SGS 56111 is a straight-flute carbide drill bit designed for precision drilling in ferrous and hardened materials. Built from micrograin carbide with a bright, uncoated finish, this bit delivers consistent performance in demanding shop and field applications. It measures 0.1719 inches in diameter (11/64 inch nominal) with a 140-degree standard point angle and a web-thinned tip geometry that reduces entry thrust. With an overall length of 2.125 inches and a flute length of 1.0625 inches, it is well-suited for short-hole drilling where rigidity and accuracy matter. The right-hand cutting direction and two-flute configuration support effective chip evacuation in ferrous materials.
The SGS 56111 is intended for drilling cast iron, steel, and hardened steel, as well as other hardened materials that demand a carbide substrate over high-speed steel. It fits standard drill chucks accepting a 0.1719-inch shank diameter and is appropriate for use in CNC machining centers, drill presses, and hand-held precision drilling equipment. Machinists, tool-and-die professionals, and maintenance technicians working with hardened workpieces will find this bit applicable to production and repair operations alike. It conforms to DIN 6539 standards.
Designed for use in standard drill chucks and collets accepting a 0.1719-inch shank diameter. Suitable for drilling cast iron, steel, hardened steel, and hardened materials. Compatible with CNC machining centers and drill press setups requiring a DIN 6539 straight-flute carbide drill in the 11/64 inch size range.
Installation and use of this drill bit should be performed by qualified machinists or maintenance professionals familiar with carbide tooling. Secure the shank fully in a compatible chuck or collet before operation and verify runout before drilling. Power down and de-energize all equipment before changing tooling. Carbide is brittle and should not be subjected to lateral loading or impact that could cause chipping or fracture.
