The SGS 56047 is a straight-flute, solid carbide drill bit designed for precision drilling in hard and demanding workpiece materials. Built to DIN 6539 standards, it features a 140-degree standard point angle and a web-thinned geometry that reduces cutting force and improves centering at entry. The bit measures 0.0785 inches in diameter with a 0.75-inch flute length and a 1.75-inch overall length. Micrograin carbide construction provides the hardness and edge retention needed when working in cast iron, hardened steel, and similar ferrous materials. Right-hand cutting direction and a bright, uncoated finish round out the design.
This drill bit is suited for precision drilling operations in machine shop, toolroom, and production environments. Its compact overall length and straight-flute configuration make it appropriate for short-hole applications where chip evacuation is not the primary concern and rigidity is preferred. Typical users include machinists and toolroom technicians drilling small-diameter holes in ferrous metals, hardened materials, and cast iron components. It is sold individually and is part of SGS Series 106.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-use straight-flute carbide drill bit for machining operations involving cast iron, hardened steel, steel, and other hardened materials where a wire-size number 47 diameter is specified.
Installation and use of this drill bit should be performed by qualified machinists or toolroom personnel familiar with small-diameter carbide tooling. Secure the shank firmly in a compatible drill chuck or collet rated for the 0.0785-inch shank diameter before operation. Carbide tooling is brittle and should never be subjected to side loading, interrupted cuts beyond its rated capacity, or excessive feed rates that can cause fracture. Confirm spindle speed and feed rate are appropriate for the workpiece material before beginning the drilling operation.
