The SGS 56045 is a straight-flute drill bit designed for precision drilling in ferrous and hardened materials. Built from micrograin solid carbide and left uncoated, it delivers consistent cutting performance without the need for surface treatment. The 140-degree standard point with web thinning reduces entry thrust and centers the bit accurately at the start of the cut. At wire size 45 (0.082 inches diameter), this bit is suited for small-diameter hole work where dimensional accuracy is critical. Two right-hand flutes clear chips effectively through a 0.75-inch flute length, and the 1.75-inch overall length fits compact drill chucks and machining fixtures. Shank diameter is 0.082 inches. Licensed machinists, toolroom technicians, and precision fabricators are the typical end users.
This drill bit is designed for use in cast iron, hardened steel, general steel, and other hardened materials where standard high-speed steel tooling is inadequate. The solid carbide construction makes it appropriate for CNC machining centers, drill presses, and production environments requiring tight hole tolerances. It is manufactured to DIN 6539 standards, making it suitable for applications where dimensional conformance is required. Its compact overall length and small diameter make it well-suited for circuit board work, mold and die applications, and precision fixture drilling where access is restricted.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or standard tooling option for applications requiring a wire size 45 straight-flute solid carbide drill bit conforming to DIN 6539. Compatible with any drill chuck or collet accepting a 0.082-inch shank diameter.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified machinists or toolroom technicians familiar with carbide tooling. Secure the shank fully in the chuck or collet before operation and verify runout before cutting. Carbide is brittle — avoid side loading, interrupted cuts without appropriate feed rates, and contact with hard surfaces during handling. Follow machine manufacturer recommendations for spindle speed and feed rate for the workpiece material and bit diameter.
