The SGS 56043 is a straight-flute carbide drill bit in No. 43 wire size, measuring 0.0890 inches in diameter. Built from micrograin carbide with a bright uncoated finish, it features a 140-degree standard point with web thinning for improved chip evacuation and reduced thrust at entry. The overall length is 1.75 inches with a 0.75-inch flute length and a 1.05-inch shank. This bit is manufactured to DIN 6539 standards and carries a diameter tolerance of +0.0000 to -0.0005 inches. It is intended for use by machinists, tool-and-die professionals, and maintenance technicians working in precision drilling applications.
The SGS 56043 is designed for drilling cast iron, hardened steel, steel, and other hardened materials. Its straight-flute geometry is suited for short-hole drilling in brittle or hard workpiece materials where chip control and rigidity are priorities. With a maximum drilling depth of 0.609 inches and a 3xD flute-to-diameter ratio, it fits typical precision machining and repair scenarios where a small-diameter, high-hardness bit is required. Coolant-through capability is not available on this model, so external coolant or cutting fluid should be applied as appropriate for the workpiece material.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-use drill bit for applications requiring a No. 43 wire-size straight-flute carbide bit in cast iron, hardened steel, and related hardened materials per SGS Series 106 specifications.
This bit is installed and used by machinists and precision maintenance technicians operating drill presses, CNC machining centers, or hand-held power tools rated for carbide tooling. Secure the shank fully in the chuck or collet before operation and verify spindle runout is within acceptable limits to avoid premature edge failure on a bit of this small diameter. Apply appropriate cutting fluid externally during drilling since this model does not support coolant-through delivery. Inspect the cutting edges before each use, as micrograin carbide at small diameters is brittle and sensitive to side loading or impact.
