The SGS 56037 is a straight-flute drill bit designed for precision drilling in hard and demanding workpiece materials. Built from solid carbide with a micrograin grade, it delivers the rigidity and edge retention needed when working with cast iron, hardened steel, and standard steel. The 140-degree point angle promotes accurate entry and reduces walking on hard surfaces. A web-thinned geometry lowers thrust requirements at the cutting tip. Overall length is 1.8125 inches with a flute length of 0.8125 inches and a shank diameter of 0.1040 inches. This bit is sized to wire gauge number 37 and is intended for use by machinists and tool-and-die professionals in controlled drilling applications.
The SGS 56037 is well suited to production and maintenance machining environments where tight tolerances are required. Its right-hand cutting direction and two-flute straight configuration make it effective for drilling into cast iron, hardened steel, and hardened materials where chip evacuation is less critical than rigidity and hole accuracy. The uncoated bright finish is appropriate for applications where coating buildup or heat sensitivity is a concern. Maximum drilling depth is 0.6560 inches, making it appropriate for shallow, precise holes in hard stock.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-use straight-flute carbide drill bit for machining applications involving cast iron, hardened steel, steel, and hardened materials per Series 106 specifications.
Installation and use of this drill bit should be performed by qualified machinists familiar with carbide tooling. Secure the shank fully in the drill chuck or collet before operation and verify runout before drilling. Carbide tooling is brittle and should not be subjected to side-loading or interrupted cuts beyond its rated capacity. Power down and de-energize the machine spindle completely before changing or inspecting the bit.
