The SGS 56015 is a straight-flute solid carbide drill bit designed for precision drilling in ferrous metals, hardened steels, and cast iron. Built to DIN 6539 standards, this Series 106 bit features a 140-degree point angle with web thinning for improved penetration and reduced thrust. The micrograin carbide construction delivers the rigidity and wear resistance required for consistent performance in demanding metalworking applications. At 2.1875 inches overall length with a 1.125-inch flute length, this right-hand cutting bit suits compact drilling setups where control and accuracy are critical. Licensed machinists and tool-and-die professionals are the primary installers.
This bit is engineered for drilling cast iron, hardened steel, and general steel in production and maintenance environments. The straight-flute geometry makes it particularly effective in materials that produce short, brittle chips — such as cast iron — where a spiral flute could pack and bind. The 0.1800-inch diameter corresponds to Wire Gauge 15, making it a standard selection for precise hole sizing in metal fabrication, tooling, and repair work. Maximum drilling depth is 0.906 inches per pass. The uncoated bright finish allows easy visual inspection of cutting edge condition during use.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard tooling option for drilling operations in cast iron, hardened steel, and general steel workpieces requiring a Wire Gauge 15 (0.1800-inch) hole diameter.
Installation and use of carbide drill bits should be performed by qualified machinists or metalworking professionals familiar with proper speeds, feeds, and workholding practices. Secure the workpiece firmly before drilling to prevent movement that can chip carbide edges. Carbide is brittle — avoid lateral loading, interrupted cuts without proper setup, or dropping the bit on hard surfaces. Always power down and de-energize the machine before changing tooling.
