The SGS 53127 is a solid carbide jobber length drill bit designed for precision drilling in demanding industrial and trade applications. Built from micrograin solid carbide with a bright uncoated finish, this bit delivers consistent hole quality at a 27/64 inch (0.4219 inches) diameter with a 150-degree drill point angle. The three-flute, regular spiral design with a web-thinned, tapered web configuration promotes efficient chip evacuation and reduces entry thrust. With an overall length of 4.5 inches and a flute length of 2.875 inches, the 53127 suits jobber-length setups where rigidity and accuracy are critical.
This drill bit is engineered for right-hand cutting in a range of workpiece materials including cast iron, hardened steel, non-ferrous metals, and standard steel. It fits standard straight-shank tool holders and is at home in CNC machining centers, drill presses, and manual drilling operations. Machinists, tool and die techs, and general metalworking professionals will find this bit appropriate for production drilling where carbide's hardness advantage over HSS is needed. The Series 103 designation conforms to DIN 6539 standards.
Compatible with workpiece materials including cast iron, hardened steel, non-ferrous metals, and standard steel. Designed for use in straight-shank tool holders accepting a 0.4219-inch shank diameter, consistent with DIN 6539 Series 103 jobber length specifications.
This drill bit is installed and operated by machinists and metalworking tradespeople using CNC machines, drill presses, or hand-held drilling equipment with compatible straight-shank collets or chucks. Always secure the shank fully in the chuck and verify runout before drilling production parts. Coolant-through is not supported on this bit, so apply external cutting fluid appropriate for the workpiece material when drilling hardened steel or cast iron to manage heat. Inspect the cutting edges for chipping before each use, as carbide is brittle and edge damage will affect hole quality and diameter tolerance.
