The SGS 53115 is a solid carbide jobber length drill bit designed for precise, repeatable hole-making in demanding materials. It measures 15/64 inches (0.2344 inches) in diameter and features a 150-degree point angle with a web-thinned, tapered web configuration that reduces thrust and improves chip evacuation at entry. The 3-flute, regular spiral design increases chip clearance and supports faster feed rates compared to standard 2-flute geometries. At 3.25 inches overall length with a 2-inch flute length, it fits standard drill chucks with a straight cylindrical shank. Manufactured from micrograin solid carbide to DIN 6539 standards, this bit is suited for licensed machinists, tool and die technicians, and industrial maintenance professionals.
This drill bit is rated for use in cast iron, hardened steel, non-ferrous metal, and general steel. The uncoated bright finish makes it straightforward to inspect for wear after use. With a maximum drilling depth of 1.61 inches and a 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio, the SGS 53115 is well-matched to short-to-medium depth applications in production or maintenance environments where dimensional accuracy and material hardness are primary concerns. It is sold individually and designed for use in CNC machining centers, drill presses, and hand-held industrial drilling equipment.
Designed as an OEM-style jobber length drill bit for use in standard drill chucks and collets accepting a 0.2344-inch straight cylindrical shank. Suitable for cast iron, hardened steel, non-ferrous metal, and steel workpieces as specified by the manufacturer.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified machinists or industrial maintenance technicians familiar with carbide tooling. Secure the shank fully in the chuck or collet and verify runout before drilling. Solid carbide bits are brittle compared to high-speed steel — avoid lateral loading, interrupted cuts without proper setup, or impact-style drivers. Coolant through is not supported on this bit; apply external coolant or cutting fluid as appropriate for the workpiece material.
