Product Description

The SGS 53114 is a solid carbide jobber-length drill bit designed for precision hole-making in demanding materials. The bit measures 7/32 inch (0.2188 inch decimal) in diameter with a 3-inch overall length and a 1-3/4 inch flute length. The 150-degree point angle and three-spiral flutes with web-thinned, tapered web geometry provide efficient chip evacuation and stable entry. The bright/uncoated finish suits general-purpose applications where coating buildup in tight holes is a concern. This bit is built to DIN 6539 standards from micrograin carbide stock and is suited for machinists, tool-and-die trades, and maintenance technicians working in production or field environments.

The SGS 53114 is intended for drilling cast iron, hardened steel, non-ferrous metals, and general steel stock. Its 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio and regular spiral type make it well matched to CNC machining centers, drill presses, and manual mills where consistent hole tolerances are required. The straight-cylindrical shank fits standard drill chucks without adapter sleeves. With a maximum drilling depth of 1.41 inches and a shank length of 1.22 inches, it is sized for typical jobber-depth applications in both production and maintenance settings.

Key Features

  • Micrograin solid carbide construction for extended tool life in hard and abrasive materials
  • 150-degree point angle reduces thrust and improves self-centering on entry
  • Three-flute spiral geometry with web thinning and tapered web for efficient chip removal
  • Bright/uncoated finish; no coating interference in tight-tolerance bores
  • DIN 6539 standard compliance ensures dimensional consistency
  • Right-hand cut, straight-cylindrical shank fits standard drill chucks directly

Compatibility

Designed as an OEM-style jobber-length drill bit compatible with standard drill chucks and collet systems accepting a 0.2188-inch straight-cylindrical shank. Suitable for use in cast iron, hardened steel, non-ferrous metal, and steel workpieces per SGS Series 103 application guidelines.

Installation Notes

Installation and use of carbide drill bits should be performed by qualified machinists or maintenance technicians familiar with cutting tool safety. Secure the straight-cylindrical shank fully in the chuck or collet before operation and verify runout is within acceptable limits. Carbide is brittle — avoid lateral loading or side forces that can cause chipping or fracture. This bit does not support coolant-through delivery; use external coolant or cutting fluid appropriate to the workpiece material when required.
