The SGS 53026 is a jobber-length drill bit machined from micrograin solid carbide and designed for demanding metal-cutting applications. It carries a wire gauge size 26 designation with a decimal diameter of 0.1470 inches and an overall length of 2.5 inches. The 150-degree split point geometry reduces walking at entry and decreases thrust load compared to standard 118-degree points. Three spiral flutes clear chips efficiently at depth, and the bright, uncoated finish is suited for use with cutting fluids where coating buildup is a concern. A web-thinned, tapered web improves penetration in harder workpiece materials. Licensed machinists, toolroom technicians, and production floor operators are the primary users of this bit.
The SGS 53026 is engineered for drilling cast iron, hardened steel, non-ferrous metals, and general-purpose steel. The 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio and 1.375-inch flute length support a maximum drilling depth of approximately 1.109 inches in a single pass. The straight cylindrical shank with a diameter of 0.1470 inches seats in standard drill chucks and collet holders without adapter sleeves. This bit is appropriate for CNC machining centers, drill presses, and hand-held power drills where solid carbide tooling is specified.
