The SGS 53009 is a solid carbide jobber length drill bit in wire gauge size No. 9, with a decimal diameter of 0.1960 inches (4.98 mm). Built from micrograin solid carbide, it features a 150-degree split point angle with web thinning for reduced thrust and improved hole entry. The three-flute regular spiral design promotes chip evacuation in demanding materials. With an overall length of 3.0000 inches and a flute length of 1.7500 inches, this bit is suited for precision drilling in production and maintenance environments. Machinists, tool and die shops, and industrial maintenance technicians are the primary users.
The SGS 53009 is designed for drilling steel, cast iron, aluminum, and non-ferrous materials. It performs well in CNC machining centers, drill presses, and hand-held power tools where a straight shank fits the chuck. The Series 103 designation and DIN 6539 standard compliance make it a recognized general-purpose carbide drill for metal fabrication, toolroom work, and production drilling applications requiring consistent hole size and surface finish.
Designed as a general-purpose jobber length drill bit conforming to DIN 6539 standards, suitable for use in any machine or hand tool accepting a straight shank at 0.1960 inches diameter. Compatible with primary workpiece materials including steel, cast iron, aluminum, and other non-ferrous metals.
Installation and use of this drill bit should be performed by machinists or qualified technicians familiar with carbide tooling. Secure the straight shank firmly in the chuck or collet before operation and verify runout is within acceptable limits, as carbide is brittle and sensitive to lateral loading. Always use appropriate cutting fluid or coolant for the workpiece material, even though this bit does not feature through-coolant capability. Inspect the cutting edges before each use and replace the bit if chipping or wear is evident to maintain hole accuracy and prevent tool breakage.
