The SGS 51757 is a screw machine length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in demanding trade and industrial applications. Built from solid carbide with an AlTiN (aluminum titanium nitride) coating, this bit is engineered for cutting alloy steels and titanium where heat resistance and edge retention are critical. The 145-degree split point minimizes walking and reduces entry burr on hard materials. At 2 inches overall length, the screw machine format keeps the tool compact and rigid, making it well suited for CNC machining centers, drill presses, and production setups where stub-length stiffness matters.

This drill bit is used in precision metalworking environments including aerospace component machining, toolroom work, and production drilling of alloy and titanium workpieces. The right-hand cut, regular spiral flute geometry and straight cylindrical shank allow it to seat directly in standard drill chucks and collet holders. Installation Notes

This drill bit is intended for use by qualified machinists and CNC technicians. Always secure the shank fully in a rated chuck or collet before operation and verify spindle runout is within acceptable tolerance for the hole diameter being drilled. Do not exceed the drill bit diameter tolerance range of plus 0.0002 to plus 0.0006 inches when selecting a bit for close-tolerance work. Ensure the machine is at a full stop before bit changes and inspect the cutting edges for chipping before each use, as carbide is brittle and sensitive to interrupted cuts without proper setup.
