The SGS 51367 is a screw machine length drill bit engineered for high-performance drilling in demanding metal-cutting applications. Built from solid carbide and finished with an AlTiN (Ti-NAMITE-A) coating, this bit delivers excellent heat resistance and wear life when cutting alloy steels and titanium. It features a 37/64 inch (0.5781 inch) cutting diameter, a 145-degree notched point angle for aggressive self-centering, and a web-thinned, tapered web configuration that reduces thrust and improves chip evacuation. The right-hand cut, regular spiral flute design promotes efficient chip flow. Machinists and tooling professionals working in production or job-shop environments are the primary users.
This drill bit is suited for screw machine and short-run machining operations where rigidity and precision are critical. Its screw machine length profile — 4-9/16 inches overall — provides added stiffness compared to jobber-length bits, making it well suited for CNC machining centers, turret lathes, and automatic screw machines. Primary workpiece materials include alloy steels and titanium alloys. The 3xD flute-to-diameter ratio and two-margin geometry support accurate hole location and finish in tough materials.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard tooling option for screw machine length solid carbide drill applications in the 0.5000 to 0.6000 inch diameter range, Series 135.
Installation and tool changes should be performed by qualified machinists with the machine powered down and all spindle motion stopped. Secure the straight shank firmly in a compatible collet, drill chuck, or toolholder rated for the shank diameter before operation. Verify spindle speed and feed rate are appropriate for the workpiece material and cutting diameter before engaging the cut. Coolant-through is not supported on this bit, so adequate external coolant or cutting fluid application is recommended when drilling titanium or alloy steel.
