The SGS 51341 is a screw machine length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in demanding industrial and machining applications. Built from solid carbide and coated with SGS Ti-NAMITE-A AlTiN finish, this bit delivers superior heat resistance and extended tool life compared to standard HSS tooling. The 145-degree notched point reduces thrust and improves centering at the start of a cut. With a 7/32-inch (0.2188-inch) diameter and a compact 2-5/8-inch overall length, the 51341 is well-suited for CNC machining centers, drill presses, and screw machine operations requiring tight tolerances and repeatable results.
This drill bit is built for cutting alloy steels and titanium, materials that demand rigid, heat-resistant tooling. The screw machine length format provides extra rigidity in short-reach setups, reducing deflection during high-speed or high-feed operations. The Series 135 designation places this bit in SGS's purpose-built line for hard and abrasive workpiece materials. It is typically installed and operated by machinists, tool and die makers, and CNC operators working in aerospace, defense, medical, and precision manufacturing environments.
Designed for use in alloy steels and titanium workpieces. Compatible with standard straight-shank drill chucks and collet systems accepting a 0.2500-inch shank. Suited for CNC machining centers, turret lathes, and screw machines operating within the 3xD depth-to-diameter range.
This bit should be installed by qualified machinists familiar with carbide tooling requirements. Ensure the tool holder or collet is clean and free of debris before seating the straight shank to prevent runout. Carbide tooling is brittle and must not be used in applications with excessive vibration or interrupted cuts unless the setup is rigid and properly supported. Always verify spindle speed and feed rate parameters are appropriate for solid carbide before operation.
