The SGS 51276 is a solid carbide screw machine length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in demanding materials. It carries a wire gauge size of 35, equivalent to 0.1100 inches (2.79 mm) in diameter, and features a 145-degree notched point geometry optimized for accurate entry and reduced thrust. The AlTiN coating, marketed under the Ti-NAMITE-A designation, provides heat resistance and extended tool life when cutting alloy steels and titanium. Overall length is 2.0 inches with a 0.625-inch flute length and a 3xD flute-to-diameter ratio. This bit is intended for professional machinists, tool-and-die shops, and production environments where tight tolerances and difficult workpiece materials are the norm.
The SGS 51276 is suited for precision drilling applications in alloy steels and titanium, making it a strong fit for aerospace, automotive, and general metalworking production setups. The screw machine length body provides rigidity in short-reach setups and is well matched to CNC machining centers, drill presses, and screw machines requiring controlled hole depth. The straight shank and 0.1250-inch shank diameter allow direct chuck mounting without adapters in standard toolholding systems. Maximum recommended drilling depth is 0.5625 inches.
Designed as a high-performance replacement or direct-use carbide drill bit for applications requiring wire gauge size 35 (0.1100 inch diameter) in CNC machining centers, drill presses, and screw machines with standard straight-shank toolholding. Primary workpiece materials are alloy steels and titanium.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified machinists or tooling professionals familiar with carbide tooling requirements. Secure the straight shank fully in a calibrated chuck or collet before operation to prevent runout. Carbide tooling is brittle — avoid side loads, interrupted cuts without proper setup, or using worn toolholding that can induce vibration and chipping. Follow machine manufacturer guidelines for spindle speed and feed rate appropriate to the workpiece material and tool diameter.
