The SGS 51115 is a jobber-length drill bit designed for precision hole-making in demanding applications. Manufactured from micrograin solid carbide, this bit delivers the hardness and edge retention needed for drilling harder materials where high-speed steel tooling falls short. It features a 118-degree faceted point angle with web thinning to reduce thrust and improve centering on entry. The straight cylindrical shank measures 0.2344 inches in diameter, and the overall length is 3.25 inches. The 2-inch spiral flute promotes chip evacuation during operation. This bit is intended for use in machine tool setups operated by machinists, tool and die workers, and production drilling technicians.
The SGS 51115 is suited for use in CNC machining centers, drill presses, and manual machines where consistent hole diameter and tight tolerances are required. The right-hand cutting direction and regular spiral flute geometry make it appropriate for general-purpose drilling in steel, cast iron, hardened alloys, and similar ferrous and nonferrous materials. The uncoated bright finish is compatible with a range of cutting fluids. It conforms to DIN 338 standards and falls within the 0.2000 to 0.2500 inch drill bit size range of the Series 101 line.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-fit tooling option for standard jobber-length drill bit applications conforming to DIN 338 specifications in the 0.2000 to 0.2500 inch diameter range.
Installation and operation should be performed by qualified machinists or tooling technicians familiar with machine tool safety practices. Secure the straight shank firmly in a compatible drill chuck or collet before operation and verify runout before beginning a drilling cycle. Power down and de-energize the machine before changing or inspecting tooling. Use appropriate cutting fluid for the workpiece material to extend tool life and maintain dimensional accuracy.
