The SGS 51101 is a jobber-length drill bit built from micrograin solid carbide and designed for precision drilling in hard and abrasive materials. It carries a 1/64 inch (0.0156 inch) diameter, a 118-degree faceted point angle, and a bright uncoated finish suited for applications where coating buildup at small diameters is a concern. The straight-cylindrical shank measures 0.0156 inch in diameter, and the overall length is 3/4 inch. A web-thinned, tapered web configuration reduces entry force on the cutting edge. This bit is installed by machinists, tool-and-die professionals, and precision fabricators working with close-tolerance drilling operations.
The SGS 51101 is appropriate for precision drilling in materials that benefit from a rigid, wear-resistant carbide substrate at very small diameters. The 2-flute regular spiral design promotes chip evacuation in short-hole applications. With a flute length of 3/16 inch and a 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio, the bit is well suited for shallow drilling passes in metals, composites, and other hard substrates encountered in production and maintenance machining environments.
Designed as a jobber-length replacement or production drill bit for precision machining applications requiring a 1/64 inch (0.0156 inch) diameter solid carbide bit conforming to DIN 338 and Series 101 specifications.
Installation and use of this bit should be performed by qualified machinists or tooling professionals. Secure the straight-cylindrical shank firmly in a precision collet or drill chuck rated for the spindle speed appropriate to the workpiece material and bit diameter — micro carbide bits are brittle and will fracture under side-loading or improper runout conditions. Power down and lock out the machine before changing tooling. Avoid hand-feed pressure that exceeds the bit's rated capacity for this diameter class.
