The SGS 51065 is a solid carbide jobber-length drill bit in wire gauge size 65, equivalent to 0.035 inches (0.89 mm) in diameter. It features a 118-degree faceted point angle with web thinning for easier penetration and reduced thrust. The bright, uncoated finish keeps the carbide surface exposed for applications where coating buildup could affect tolerances. At 1-3/8 inches overall length with a 5/8-inch flute length, this is a short, rigid tool built for precision drilling in small-diameter holes. It is intended for machinists, tool-and-die technicians, and fabricators working in production or maintenance environments.
This drill bit is rated for composite materials as its primary workpiece material, making it well suited for drilling fiberglass, carbon fiber, circuit board laminates, and similar reinforced composites. It is also used in light metalworking and printed circuit board applications where a tight-tolerance, small-diameter hole is required. The right-hand cutting direction and regular spiral flute geometry support standard CNC and manual drill press setups. The straight-cylindrical shank fits standard collets and drill chucks sized for 0.035-inch shank diameters.
Designed for use as a jobber-length drill bit in CNC machining centers, drill presses, and manual drilling operations requiring a wire gauge size 65 straight-cylindrical shank tool per DIN 338 specifications.
This drill bit is installed by machinists and precision fabricators in collet chucks or standard drill press chucks rated for small-diameter tooling. Ensure the chuck or collet is clean and properly torqued to prevent runout, which can cause breakage in carbide tooling at this diameter. Secure the workpiece firmly before drilling - lateral movement is a common cause of bit failure at sub-0.040-inch diameters. Do not use this bit for hammer or impact drilling applications.
