The SGS 51041 is a solid carbide jobber-length drill bit designed for precision drilling in tight-tolerance applications. Built from micrograin solid carbide, it delivers hardness and wear resistance well beyond high-speed steel alternatives. The bit carries a wire gauge size of 41, equal to 0.096 inches (2.44 mm) in diameter, and features a 118-degree faceted point angle with a web-thinned, tapered web configuration for cleaner entry and reduced thrust. Overall length is 2 inches with a 1-inch flute length. The bright, uncoated finish suits applications where coating adhesion or contamination is a concern. Licensed tradespeople and precision machinists are the primary installers of this tool.
This drill bit is suited for drilling ferrous and non-ferrous metals, plastics, and composite materials where tight diameter tolerances and hole quality are required. The right-hand spiral flute with regular spiral geometry promotes chip evacuation in through-hole and blind-hole drilling scenarios. With a maximum drilling depth of approximately 0.797 inches and a flute-to-diameter ratio of 5xD, it fits typical bench drill press, CNC, or hand-drill operations in job shop, maintenance, and precision fabrication environments. Series 101 construction conforms to DIN 338 standards, making it interchangeable with other DIN-spec jobber-length bits of the same diameter.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct substitute for DIN 338 jobber-length drill bits in wire gauge size 41 (0.096 inches). Compatible with standard straight-shank drill chucks accepting a 0.096-inch shank diameter.
Installation is performed by machinists, maintenance technicians, or fabricators using a keyed or keyless drill chuck on a bench drill press, CNC machining center, or handheld drill. Secure the straight cylindrical shank fully into the chuck and verify runout before drilling. Always operate within the recommended RPM range for carbide tooling in the material being drilled. Solid carbide bits are brittle relative to high-speed steel and should not be used in applications with significant lateral load or flex.
