The SGS 51033 is a solid carbide jobber-length drill bit in No. 33 wire gauge size (0.113 inch / 2.87 mm diameter). Manufactured to DIN 338 standards, it features a 118-degree faceted point angle and a right-hand spiral flute configuration for consistent chip evacuation in a wide range of materials. The micrograin solid carbide construction delivers greater hardness and wear resistance than high-speed steel, making it well suited for demanding production drilling in metals, composites, and other hard materials. Overall length is 2.25 inches with a flute length of 1.25 inches and a maximum drilling depth of 1.0 inch.
This drill bit is intended for precision drilling applications where tight diameter tolerances are required. The Series 101 design with a 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio and tapered web configuration makes it practical for general-purpose jobber drilling in machine shop, toolroom, and manufacturing environments. It is commonly used by machinists and tooling specialists on CNC machining centers, drill presses, and manual mills where carbide tooling is preferred over high-speed steel for longer tool life and better hole quality.
Designed as a standard jobber-length drill bit in No. 33 wire size with a straight-cylindrical shank; compatible with any drill chuck or collet system that accepts a 0.113-inch straight shank.
Installation is performed by machinists or tooling technicians in machine shop or manufacturing settings. Secure the straight-cylindrical shank firmly in a compatible chuck or collet before operation and verify runout is within acceptable limits for the application. Solid carbide tooling is brittle compared to high-speed steel - avoid side loading, interrupted cuts without proper feed rate adjustment, or dropping the bit, as chipping or breakage can result. Always follow machine manufacturer guidelines and applicable shop safety practices when setting speeds and feeds for carbide tooling.
