The SGS 51030 is a solid carbide jobber-length drill bit in wire gauge size No. 30, with a decimal diameter of 0.1285 inches. Built to DIN 338 standards, it features a 118-degree faceted point and a web-thinned, tapered web design that reduces thrust during entry. The micrograin carbide construction delivers the hardness and edge retention needed for demanding hole-making in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. With a bright uncoated finish, a right-hand spiral flute, and a straight-cylindrical shank, this bit is sized for precision drilling applications where tight diameter tolerance is critical. Diameter tolerance is held to -0.0005 to 0.0000 inches.
The SGS 51030 suits production drilling, maintenance, and toolroom work where small-diameter, high-accuracy holes are required. It performs in CNC machining centers, drill presses, and hand-held power tools fitted with a compatible chuck. Its 2-flute regular-spiral geometry keeps chip evacuation efficient in materials such as steel, stainless, cast iron, aluminum, and plastics. The 1.25-inch flute length provides up to 1.0 inch of usable drilling depth, making it appropriate for through-holes and moderate-depth blind holes in sheet metal, structural components, and machined parts.
Designed as a Series 101 jobber drill conforming to DIN 338, suitable for use in any drill press, CNC machining center, or hand-held power tool equipped with a chuck that accepts a 0.1285-inch straight-cylindrical shank.
Drill bit installation and replacement should be performed by a qualified machinist or maintenance technician. Secure the shank fully in the chuck and verify runout before starting the cut. Always bring spindle speed and feed rate in line with the workpiece material and bit diameter before engaging the cut. Carbide tooling is brittle - avoid impact loads, lateral deflection, and re-sharpening unless proper carbide grinding equipment is available.
