The SGS 51028 is a solid carbide jobber length drill bit sized to No. 28 wire gauge (0.1405 inches / 3.57 mm diameter). It features a 118-degree faceted point angle with web thinning for faster, cleaner entry into work material. The bright, uncoated finish suits applications where coating is not required. With an overall length of 2.5 inches and a 1.375-inch spiral flute, the 51028 is built for precision drilling in metal, composites, and other materials common in trade and production environments. Micrograin carbide construction provides hardness and wear resistance suited to high-cycle or demanding drilling tasks. This is a right-hand cut, two-flute bit with a straight cylindrical shank.
The SGS 51028 is appropriate for use in hand-held drill presses, CNC machining centers, and bench-top drilling setups where wire-gauge hole sizing is required. Its 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio and tapered web configuration make it suitable for general-purpose through-hole and blind-hole work in ferrous and non-ferrous metals, plastics, and composites. It conforms to DIN 338 standards, making it compatible with standard collets and chucks accepting a 0.1405-inch straight shank. This bit is sold and packaged individually.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard tooling option for any setup requiring a No. 28 wire gauge jobber length drill bit with a straight cylindrical shank conforming to DIN 338 specifications.
This drill bit is installed and serviced by machinists, toolmakers, and trade professionals operating drilling equipment. Ensure the drill chuck or collet is fully tightened and rated for the shank diameter before operation. Inspect the cutting edges for chips or wear before each use, as carbide is brittle and may fracture if the bit is dropped or improperly stored. Follow machine manufacturer guidelines for spindle speed and feed rate appropriate to the work material.
