The SGS 51002 is a solid carbide jobber-length drill bit designed for precision drilling in metal, composites, and other hard materials. Ground to a 118-degree faceted point with web thinning, it reduces entry thrust and improves centering at the start of the cut. The straight-cylindrical shank seats securely in standard drill chucks and collet holders. At 3 inches overall length with a 1.75-inch flute, this is a standard jobber proportion suited to benchtop drilling machines, CNC machining centers, and hand-held drill motors. Micrograin carbide construction provides hardness and wear resistance well beyond high-speed steel, making it a practical choice for production work or demanding one-off jobs.
This drill bit is sized to wire gauge number 2, with a decimal diameter of 0.221 inches (5.61 mm). It fits applications in metalworking, tool and die, maintenance repair, and light manufacturing environments. The bright uncoated finish makes it easy to inspect cutting edges and re-grind when needed. It is suited to dry cutting or flood-coolant setups, though coolant-through delivery is not supported on this model. The regular spiral and 2-flute configuration provide efficient chip evacuation in most general-purpose drilling operations.
Designed as an OEM-style jobber drill for use in standard drill chucks, ER collets, and tool holders accepting a 0.221-inch straight-cylindrical shank in benchtop drill presses, machining centers, and hand-held drill motors.
Installation and use should be performed by machinists or qualified trades professionals familiar with rotary cutting tools. Secure the shank fully in the chuck or collet before operation and verify runout before cutting. Always wear appropriate eye protection and follow applicable shop safety procedures when operating drilling equipment. Do not exceed the recommended maximum drilling depth of 1.4062 inches without peck-drilling to clear chips.
