The SGS 49664 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precise milling operations in non-ferrous metals and similar materials. With a 0.1575-inch (4.00 mm) mill diameter and a 0.4331-inch (11.00 mm) length of cut, this tool delivers tight tolerances and clean edges in demanding machining environments. The 2-flute configuration with a 45-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation at higher feed rates. The straight-cylindrical shank measures 6.00 mm in diameter, fitting standard collet toolholders used in CNC machining centers and manual mills alike. This is a centercutting end mill, meaning it can plunge directly into the workpiece.
The SGS 49664 is suited for finish milling, slotting, and profiling operations on non-ferrous metals including aluminum, brass, copper, and similar materials. Its regular length classification and compact overall length of 55.00 mm make it well-matched to close-tolerance work in production and job-shop environments. The uncoated solid carbide construction performs reliably with appropriate cutting fluids or dry when workpiece material and machine rigidity allow.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement or standard tooling option for CNC machining centers, knee mills, and manual milling machines using collets or end mill holders sized for a 6.00 mm straight-cylindrical shank. Primary workpiece material is non-ferrous metal (material code N).
Installation and tool changes must be performed with the spindle fully powered down and the machine in a safe, locked-out state per applicable shop safety protocols. Seat the shank fully and evenly in the collet or holder before tightening to manufacturer torque specifications for the holder being used. Inspect the cutting edges and shank for chips or runout before beginning a new operation. Proper speeds, feeds, and cutting fluid selection for the workpiece material should be confirmed before engaging the cut.
