The SGS 48932 is a solid carbide square end mill engineered for precision milling in demanding metal-cutting applications. Measuring 0.1575 inches in diameter with a 0.315-inch length of cut and a matching 0.1575-inch straight-cylindrical shank, this stub-length tool delivers rigidity and resistance to deflection in tight setups. It features four flutes with a 30-degree right-hand spiral helix and an AlTiN coating for heat resistance and extended tool life at elevated cutting speeds. The micrograin carbide substrate supports high-performance cutting in a wide range of workpiece materials. It is a double-end design, providing two usable cutting ends per tool. Licensed machinists and CNC operators in job shops, aerospace, and precision manufacturing environments are the primary users.
The SGS 48932 Series 14M end mill is suited for milling operations on ferrous and non-ferrous metals, heat-resistant alloys, stainless steels, cast irons, and composite materials. The primary workpiece material codes listed are H, K, M, N, P, and S, covering hardened steels, cast irons, stainless steels, non-ferrous metals, steel, and superalloys respectively. Its stub length and centercutting geometry make it effective for plunge entry, slotting, and peripheral milling in confined workspaces and multi-axis CNC machining centers where tool overhang must be minimized.
Designed for use in CNC machining centers and manual milling machines accepting a 0.1575-inch straight-cylindrical shank. Compatible with workpiece material types H, K, M, N, P, and S per SGS Series 14M specifications.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC setup technicians. The tool shank should be seated fully and uniformly in a collet or end mill holder to the specified grip depth before tightening. Confirm shank diameter tolerance compatibility with the holding system before use. Follow machine tool manufacturer guidelines and applicable shop safety protocols when changing tooling, and ensure the spindle is fully stopped and locked out before handling.
