The SGS 48547 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling operations across a wide range of workpiece materials. With a 0.1181 inch (3.00 mm) mill diameter and a 0.4724 inch (12.00 mm) length of cut, this tool is built for fine detail work in tight geometries. The four-flute, right-hand spiral configuration delivers efficient chip evacuation and smooth surface finishes. An AlTiN coating provides elevated heat resistance and extended tool life in demanding cutting environments. The micrograin carbide substrate supports rigidity and wear resistance at this small diameter. Licensed machinists and CNC operators install this tool in machining centers and milling machines for production and precision work.
The SGS 48547 is suited for milling applications across a broad spectrum of materials including hardened steels, cast iron, stainless steel, aluminum alloys, non-ferrous metals, and high-temperature alloys, as indicated by its primary workpiece material codes H, K, M, N, P, and S. The regular-length profile fits standard tool holders without extended reach adapters. Centercutting capability allows plunge entry directly into workpiece material, expanding its utility for slotting, profiling, and pocketing operations in both production and prototype machining environments.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and production cutting tool compatible with standard straight-cylindrical shank tool holders accepting a 3.00 mm shank diameter. Suitable for use with workpiece material codes H, K, M, N, P, and S as specified by the manufacturer. Part of the SGS Series 1M end mill family.
Installation and tool changes must be performed by qualified machinists or CNC operators with the spindle fully stopped and the machine placed in a safe, locked-out state. Ensure the tool holder bore and shank are clean and free of debris before seating the end mill. Torque collet nuts and set screws according to the tool holder manufacturer specifications. Verify runout with a dial indicator after installation before initiating any cutting cycle.
