The SGS 48543 is a square end mill designed for precision material removal in CNC machining and manual milling operations. Built from micrograin solid carbide and coated with AlTiN (aluminum titanium nitride), it delivers hardness and heat resistance needed for demanding cutting applications. The tool measures 1 mm in diameter with a 4 mm length of cut and a 1.5 inch overall length. Four right-hand spiral flutes at a 30-degree helix angle promote efficient chip evacuation and smooth cutting action. Centercutting geometry allows both plunge and peripheral milling. This end mill is sold as a single-piece unit and is sized for small-feature, tight-tolerance work typical in tool and die, aerospace, and precision component manufacturing.
The SGS 48543 is suited for milling hardened steels, cast irons, stainless steels, non-ferrous metals, plastics, and high-temperature alloys, covering primary workpiece material categories H, K, M, N, P, and S. Its 3 mm straight-cylindrical shank fits standard ER collet chucks and small-bore tool holders commonly found on CNC machining centers and high-speed spindles. The regular length classification and compact 1 mm diameter make it the right choice for intricate pocket milling, slotting, and contouring on small precision parts where larger tooling cannot reach.
Designed for use with standard ER collet chucks and straight-bore tool holders accepting a 3 mm shank diameter. Suitable for use in CNC machining centers and high-speed milling spindles capable of accommodating small-diameter carbide end mills.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and machine power is locked out before inserting or removing tooling. The collet and collet nut should be clean and free of debris before seating the 3 mm shank. Follow the machine tool manufacturer guidelines for runout tolerance and pull-out force when setting tool length offsets for small-diameter end mills.
