The SGS 47168 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill engineered for high-performance metal removal in demanding machining applications. It features a 12 mm cutting diameter, a 12 mm length of cut (26 mm per full spec), and a 2 mm corner radius (0.0787 inches), providing edge protection and extended tool life compared to sharp-corner geometry. The five-flute, right-hand helical design supports both roughing and finishing passes. An AlTiN coating under SGS proprietary designation Ti-NAMITE-A adds heat resistance and wear protection, making this tool suitable for high-speed dry or near-dry cutting. A licensed machinist or CNC tooling technician is the typical end user for this tool.
This end mill is built for use in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium, as well as hard materials. The variable index flute spacing reduces harmonic vibration and chatter during aggressive cuts. The straight-cylindrical shank at 12 mm diameter is compatible with standard end mill holders and collet chucks. It is a single-end tool with a standard-length configuration and is not configured for extended reach. The Z5C series is positioned for shops running ferrous and exotic alloy work where tool stability and thermal management are critical.
Designed for use with standard end mill holders accepting a 12 mm straight-cylindrical shank. Suitable for machining steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials. Part of the SGS Z5C series.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator familiar with tooling runout requirements and proper holder torque procedures. Confirm shank diameter tolerance class h6 is acceptable for your holder before mounting. Inspect the tool and holder bore for contamination or damage before seating. Follow your machine tool manufacturer guidelines for speeds, feeds, and depth-of-cut parameters when programming for the target workpiece material.
