The SGS 46873 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance milling of steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium. It features a 1 mm mill diameter with a 0.10 mm (0.004 inch) corner radius and a 3 mm length of cut. The 4-flute, single-end geometry supports both roughing and finishing operations in a single tool. A variable helix and variable index design reduce harmonic vibration during cutting, improving surface finish and tool life. The TiN coating adds surface hardness and lubricity to extend wear resistance in demanding materials. Overall length is 57 mm with a 6 mm straight-cylindrical shank, and the tool weighs approximately 0.013 pounds.
The SGS 46873 is suited for precision milling applications in shops working with ferrous metals, superalloys, and hard materials. The compact 1 mm diameter makes it appropriate for fine-feature work, tight-radius profiling, and detail passes on complex part geometries. It is intended for use in end mill holders and is compatible with right-hand cutting spindles. The standard-length flute and normal pitch configuration make it a practical choice for general CNC milling centers running steel and stainless steel components where corner integrity and finish quality are required.

Installation and tool changes should be performed by a qualified machinist with the spindle fully stopped and machine in a safe, locked-out state. Seat the 6 mm straight-cylindrical shank fully into the end mill holder and torque the retention mechanism per the holder manufacturer specification. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning a cut, as excessive runout on a 1 mm diameter tool accelerates breakage. Follow shop-standard speeds and feeds for the workpiece material and coating type.
