The SGS 44769 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-efficiency material removal in non-ferrous metal applications. It features a 6 mm cutting diameter, a 10 mm length of cut, and a 0.5 mm corner radius that reduces stress concentrations at the cutting edge. Three right-hand spiral flutes with a high helix angle promote chip evacuation and help maintain surface finish during roughing operations. The straight cylindrical shank measures 6 mm in diameter with an h6 tolerance, making it compatible with standard end mill toolholders. This is a single-end, centercutting design from the SGS S-Carb 43ML series, offered in a bright uncoated finish suitable for aluminum and other non-ferrous materials.
The SGS 44769 is suited for milling non-ferrous metals such as aluminum, brass, and copper in both CNC machining centers and manual mills. The extended reach design, with a 19.99 mm reach length and a reduced neck diameter of 5.49 mm, allows access to deeper features and pockets without sacrificing rigidity. The short flute length classification and coarse pitch make this tool well suited to roughing passes where chip load and material removal rate are the primary concerns. It is commonly used in production shops, toolrooms, and job shops running light alloy components.
Designed for use with standard end mill toolholders. The 6 mm straight cylindrical shank with h6 tolerance fits ER collet chucks, hydraulic chucks, and shrink-fit holders sized for 6 mm shanks. Intended for non-ferrous metal workpiece materials.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following the toolholder manufacturer's torque and runout specifications. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the toolholder is clean and free of chips before seating the end mill. Verify axial runout with a dial indicator after clamping to confirm proper seating. Always set feeds and speeds according to the workpiece material and machine capability before beginning a cut.
