The SGS 44561 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling of non-ferrous metals. Built on the SGS Series 47ML platform, this long-reach end mill features a 0.2362 inch cutting diameter, a 0.3937 inch length of cut, and a 35-degree helix angle that promotes efficient chip evacuation and smooth cutting action. The micrograin carbide construction delivers rigidity and wear resistance in demanding machining environments. With a straight cylindrical shank and centercutting capability, the 44561 suits both plunge and peripheral milling operations. It is intended for use by machinists and CNC operators working in production and job-shop settings.
This end mill is configured for non-ferrous metal applications, including aluminum, brass, copper, and similar materials where aggressive chip clearing and fine surface finish are priorities. The extended reach design, with a reach length of 2.126 inches and a neck length of 1.7323 inches, allows access to deeper features and pockets without tool deflection becoming a primary concern. The bright uncoated finish is well-suited for non-ferrous materials where coating adhesion or heat reactivity is not required. Right-hand cut and right-hand flute orientation follow standard CNC tooling conventions.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard production tooling option for CNC machining centers and manual mills accepting 0.2362 inch straight shank toolholders. Primary workpiece material designation is non-ferrous metals (material code N).
Install in a compatible collet or end mill holder sized for a 0.2362 inch shank, ensuring the holder is clean and free of debris before seating the tool. Power down and lock out the spindle before changing tooling. Confirm runout with a dial indicator before initiating a cut, especially given the extended reach geometry. Proper tool stick-out should be minimized to what the application requires in order to reduce deflection.
