The SGS 43448 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill engineered for high-performance material removal in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium. It features a 6 mm cutting diameter, an 18 mm length of cut, and a 0.5 mm corner radius that reduces stress concentration at the tool tip and extends cutting edge life. The variable helix geometry helps break up harmonics during aggressive cuts, reducing chatter and improving surface finish. The AlTiN coating — marketed under the Ti-NAMITE-A designation — provides thermal resistance and hardness retention at elevated cutting temperatures. This tool is intended for use by machinists and toolroom professionals in production and job-shop environments.
The 43448 is suited for roughing operations in ferrous and difficult-to-machine materials including superalloys and titanium. Its coarse pitch, right-hand cut, and right-hand flute direction make it appropriate for conventional milling setups. The 6 mm straight cylindrical shank is compatible with standard end mill holders. With a 57 mm overall length and long length-of-cut classification, it handles deeper pockets and slots where a standard-length tool would not reach. Secondary workpiece capability extends to hard materials, broadening its utility across a range of part programs.
Designed for use with standard end mill holders accepting a 6 mm straight cylindrical shank. Primary workpiece materials are steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and superalloys including titanium; secondary application extends to hard materials.
Install in a clean, properly sized end mill holder and torque the clamping mechanism per the holder manufacturer specification before use. Confirm runout at the tool tip with a dial indicator before beginning cuts, as excess runout accelerates edge wear on small-diameter carbide tools. Do not use in side-lock holders that rely on a flat ground on the shank unless the shank is so prepared. Follow your machine tool builder guidelines for spindle speed and feed rate when engaging superalloys or hardened workpieces.
