The SGS 40129 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling in a wide range of metalworking and machining applications. It features a 0.1575-inch diameter with a matching 0.1575-inch straight cylindrical shank and a 0.5512-inch length of cut. The 4-flute geometry with a 30-degree helix angle and variable index promotes smooth chip evacuation and reduced chatter during both roughing and finishing passes. Manufactured from micrograin carbide in a bright, uncoated finish, this end mill is center-cutting and runs in a right-hand cut with right-hand flute direction. It suits machinists and CNC operators working in production or job-shop environments.
The SGS 40129 is rated for use across multiple workpiece material categories including hardened materials, cast irons, stainless steels, non-ferrous metals, steel, and superalloys as indicated by material codes H, K, M, N, P, and S. Its regular-length profile and standard 4-millimeter shank make it a practical choice for vertical machining centers, CNC mills, and manual knee mills where a small-diameter, multi-purpose end mill is needed. The spiral flute design handles both peripheral and plunge cuts without a center pilot hole.
Rated for workpiece material codes H, K, M, N, P, and S, covering hardened steels, cast irons, stainless steels, non-ferrous metals, general steels, and superalloys. Fits any tool holder or collet accepting a 0.1575-inch (4 mm) straight cylindrical shank with a shank diameter tolerance of +0.000 / -0.008 mm.
Installation is performed by a machinist or CNC operator. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is powered down before changing tooling. Seat the shank fully in the collet or tool holder and torque the retention mechanism per the tool holder manufacturer specification. Verify runout with a dial indicator before committing to a production cut, as excessive runout on a small-diameter carbide tool increases the risk of breakage.
