The SGS 39709 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling in metalworking and industrial machining applications. Built from micrograin solid carbide and coated with Titanium Nitride (TiN), it delivers extended tool life and thermal resistance at the cutting edge. The 39709 features a 0.0781 inch (5/64 inch) cutting diameter, a 0.1875 inch length of cut, and a 30-degree helix angle with three right-hand spiral flutes. It is center-cutting, allowing plunge entry, and runs a straight cylindrical shank at 0.125 inch diameter. Overall length is 1.5 inches. This tool is installed and run by machinists and CNC operators working in close-tolerance environments.
The 39709 is suited for milling a broad range of workpiece materials including carbon steels, stainless steels, cast irons, non-ferrous metals, and high-temperature alloys, corresponding to material codes H, K, M, N, P, and S. Its compact 0.0781 inch diameter makes it appropriate for fine-feature slots, pockets, and contour work on both manual mills and CNC machining centers. The regular-length geometry fits standard toolholders with 1/8 inch bore collets. Applications include precision component manufacturing, mold and die work, and aerospace part machining where tight tolerances are required.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or standard cutting tool for CNC machining centers and manual mills accepting a 1/8 inch straight cylindrical shank collet. Suitable for workpiece material codes H, K, M, N, P, and S as specified by the manufacturer.
This end mill is installed by qualified machinists or CNC setup technicians. Power down and lock out the spindle drive before changing tooling. Seat the shank fully and evenly in the collet to the specified engagement depth before torquing the collet nut with the appropriate spanner. Do not exceed the recommended depth of cut or feed rate for the workpiece material, as carbide tooling is brittle under impact or excessive lateral load.
